personalizing physiotherapy
Centro Fisioterapico Apuano
Every patient has a unique clinical history and responds differently to treatment. Identifying the root cause of a problem— rather than simply addressing its symptoms—is the guiding principle behind the work of the Centro Fisioterapico Apuano in Querceta. We discussed this approach with its director, Antonio Viti, a physiotherapist and osteopath. Could you start by explaining how your center is organized? “The Center is structured into distinct yet fully integrated spaces. We feature a large, fully equipped gym dedicated to physical therapy and functional rehabilitation, where patients follow carefully personalized recovery programs. Alongside this area are rooms devoted to manual treatments and instrument-based physical therapy. Within the Center, patients can also benefit from consultations with medical specialists. A highly structured administrative team ensures careful coordination and management of each therapeutic program.” What technologies characterize the Center? “We are outfitted with state-of-the-art devices for the treatment of muscular and joint conditions. Among them is the PAPIMI system (pulsed electromagnetic fields), which only a small number of centers in Italy currently use. We also employ shockwave therapy, high-power laser therapy, tecar therapy, and a wide range of technologies selected according to each patient’s clinical needs.” What is your therapeutic approach? “I coordinate a team of professionals employing a multimodal strategy: synergistic interventions and tailored therapies designed around the individual patient. Our goal is to address the issue in a systemic way while continuously monitoring the evolution of the clinical picture.” Alongside his clinical practice, Viti is also engaged in extensive scientific work. “My research extends beyond physiotherapy into other areas such as epigenetics and heart rate variability (HRV). My latest publication focuses on the use of pulsed electromagnetic fields in the treatment of inflammation and musculoskeletal pain. In an upcoming study, I will further explore the effectiveness of PAPIMI in athletic training, confirming the strong integration between research and clinical practice.”
