a healthy, radiant smile

Nothing beats a radiant smile as a calling card. However, an inviting smile doesn’t always indicate oral health. “Appearance matters, but mouth health is another issue entirely,” explains Dr. Francesco Ciucci, founder of the Istituto Odontoiatrico Versilia, a renowned center of excellence and innovation in dentistry near Forte dei Marmi. “As professionals, our responsibility is to ensure that patients understand the importance of having healthy teeth first, and then, once cared for, making them beautiful as well.”

The Istituto champions a comprehensive approach to oral health backed by a committed team of ten professionals, such as odontologists, dental hygienists, and assistants. Their mission is to deliver tailored prevention and care treatments for all, guiding patients from childhood to adulthood with the highest level of attention for their oral health.

Dr. Ciucci explains, “When patients arrive, they are greeted by our qualified staff. Their information is logged into a database, they share their requests in a meeting room and then receive clinical attention from our dentists. This is supported by customized X-rays as needed, including endoral radiography, panorex, tele x-ray of the skull, and cone beam 3D tomography.” Examinations are enhanced through microscope magnification in each of our five operative rooms. Tests assess the condition of the mandibular joints and the muscles of mastication, which frequently lead to debilitating tension-type headaches and may also relate to altered postures, often due to misaligned teeth. It’s unfortunate that today, we often see quick and inexpensive treatments advertised online, many of which recommend extracting teeth that could actually be saved. We believe this highlights a clear failure in care and prevention. In contrast, we prioritize treating teeth and use dental implants only for those that cannot be saved. Therefore, we remain committed to investing in human, logistical, and technological resources.”
