Born in Poland, raised in Germany, and adopted by Versilia, Dr. Marius Ewertowski, a 63-year-old ENT specialist, brightens up when he recalls his first encounter with Forte dei Marmi back in 1996. “While on vacation in Castiglioncello with my wife Barbara and our daughter Nastassia, we heard about the town from an Italian restaurateur friend in Düsseldorf for the first time. After a day trip, we instantly fell in love with this unique destination. The well-maintained beach resorts, the vast beach, and the constantly shifting light offered an experience unlike any other Italian summer spots.”
For nearly thirty years, he travels the 1,200 kilometers between Düsseldorf and Versilia in early July and end of August. “Forte dei Marmi’s appeal lies in its endless options: indulge in pizza and beer under the sun or dine at exclusive restaurants. You might arrive in a Ferrari, but it’s more convenient to explore on foot or by bike.”
Dr. Ewertowski shares: “Forte is a feast for the senses, a hidden gem tucked between the Apuan Alps and the Tyrrhenian Sea: you can lounge on the golden sands and gaze at the white-capped peaks—not from snow, but from marble—or let your eyes drift across the endless blue sea.”
His family has woven a bond with this Tuscan haven so profound that on September 3, 2023, Nastassia chose Sant’Ermete Church for her wedding, followed by a dreamy reception on Bagno Annetta’s beach, set against the backdrop of a stunning sunset. “It felt like La Dolce Vita for our German guests, but it was especially meaningful for my daughter, who grew up playing on that beach. It’s an integral part of her story and our family’s narrative.”
The doctor is thinking about settling in Versilia permanently after he retires. In the meantime, he’s making the most of everything Forte has to offer, especially from a medical standpoint. “As an ENT specialist, I truly appreciate the clean air and the beneficial sea air rich in sodium. Since I suffer from sinusitis, my time here is incredibly therapeutic. For us, Forte dei Marmi is more than just a holiday resort; it holds a special place in our hearts.”
