an artistic tribute to the Apuan Alps
Tano PIsano Opera Unica
Tano Pisano is the featured artist of the exhibition enlivening the summer season at the Baptistery of the Cathedral of Pietrasanta. With Apuane Meccaniche, curated by Enrico Mattei, the artist pays tribute to the mountains of Versilia through a series of paintings and four plexiglas sculptures created specifically for the occasion. These works reinterpret the natural forms of the peaks through the modular geometry of Meccano pieces, playing on the contrast between artifice and nature. Even the dates carry symbolic meaning. The opening, on Saturday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m., anticipates the summer solstice—a particularly evocative moment in Versilia, when the sun aligns with the arch of Monte Forato. The exhibition closes on September 13, shortly after the feast of the Madonna del Sole, the devotional painting preserved in the Cathedral, and also accessible to visitors on that day. The show serves as a preview of the major exhibition that Pietrasanta will dedicate to the artist beginning in the autumn, spanning Piazza del Duomo and the Sant’Agostino complex.
