sculpting the energy of life
Andrea Roggi - The Circle of Life Art Gallery
Andrea Roggi is among the contemporary Italian sculptors who have made the Tree of Life a recognizable symbol in today’s artistic landscape. His works appear in both public and private collections in Italy and abroad, while maintaining a strong connection to Tuscany, between Pietrasanta and Castiglion Fiorentino. Working primarily in bronze—the core material of his research—Roggi has developed a language that merges the human figure with nature. Olive trunks become bodies, while human forms intertwine in compositions that evoke relationships, growth, and continuity. Many of his pieces feature a golden sphere, a defining element that alludes to primal energy and the bond linking all forms of life.
The year 2026 marks an important milestone in Roggi’s career with the presentation of a work at the Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious events on the international art scene. At the same time, an extensive exhibition project will bring his sculptures into dialogue with historic architecture and identity landscapes—from the Palladian villas along the Brenta River to Sardinia and the Island of Elba. These are not simply exhibitions, but interventions conceived to interact with the surroundings, enhancing the memory and meaning of each place.
At the heart of this vision is the foundry in Castiglion Fiorentino, a contemporary workshop where Roggi personally oversees every stage of production—from modeling and casting to the final development of patinas, the result of ongoing chemical experimentation on bronze. This total control of the material recalls the Renaissance tradition of the master craftsman, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Each sculpture emerges from an internal process in which art, technique, and research coexist in a rigorous balance. Throughout this journey, Pietrasanta remains a constant point of reference—a meeting place for collectors and enthusiasts and a base for ongoing research.
