“Every garden has its own mysteries, which only the patient hand of the gardener can unravel.” With these words, Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho suggests how difficult it is to manage our green heritage. But Bibolotti Garden has been doing just that since its establishment in 1960: attempting to unravel the “mysteries” of the earth, to transmit to clients the meaning of what is much more than an important job and instead is a true passion.

Bibolotti Garden is a leader – in Versilia and beyond – in design, installation, and maintenance of green areas and in creation of theme-based gardens and parks. “For us, gardening means always trying to make the sustainable choice,” explains Emiliano, son of founder Alessandro. “If our design for a garden succeeds in expressing a balance between its ornamental function and the climatic and environmental peculiarities of the area, we feel we have understood – and shown respect for – the harmony of nature. The site, the surrounding environment, must never be disrupted or contaminated, altered by something extraneous to it: the more our work pays heed to the characteristics and history of a place, the more we consider it a success.”

Emiliano Bibolotti’s love of art and beauty spurs him to travel the globe for his clients, in search of the “works of art” of the plant world, of huge, centuries-old exemplars to place in the gardens most suited to host them. At the same time, whenever circumstances permit, he strives to prioritize recovery of autochthonous plants, those that frame the territory and make it uniquely recognizable. Yet, people whose work it is to tend gardens know better than anyone that many sites are perennially transforming. “This is why, besides relying on specialized technicians and modern technologies,” Bibolotti notes, “we never lose sight of the ancient ways and the examples set by our predecessors. Because it is true that every garden, every centimeter of earth has its mysteries. To attempt to decipher them is a challenge we revel in every day.”
